Nu is de voorzitter van de Camber of Commerce Gaza
de neef van Arafat dus die kan vast wel iets van de
900 miljoen euro ( meer dan 2 miljard gulden ) erfenis
lospeuteren om uit te lenen aan palestijnse entrepeneurs
dus ziet het er zonnig uit in Gaza.
Het lijkt mij namelijk onverstandig er luchtbalonnen
van te kopen om met allemaal dynamiet over het hek te zweven.
Maar ik weet niet hoe het filiaal van de Al Azhar daarover denkt.

Staatsorganen CMO en CI blij met vertrek Hirsi
Dialoog kan eindelijk beginnen. De voorzitters van de twee belangrijkste overkoepelende moslimorganisaties CMO en CI zijn het er over eens: Vertrek Hisi Ali: eindelijk kan dialoog beginnen Bekijk video (3 min.)

Some people where complaining bitterly about the Ayaan Hirsi Ali's terrible bias. How could Harvard ask her to speak? She did not even offer the other side. She did not even discuss Islamic issues... I kid you not.
The venue was somewhat smaller than I had imagined it would be, considering the speaker. Ms. Ali has been suggested to be one of the most influential thinkers of our time and is perhaps the most hunted woman on the planet. With this in mind, I brought my husband, a US Marshal. Though he was not acting in an official capacity, he is always armed and always ready for the unthinkable.
The audience was subdued, quiet, yet politely hostile. Comprised mostly of Dutch students, there was a smattering of staunch supporters, a few French students, and many Muslims -perhaps half of the audience. Many of them left early, including the heavy set Pakistani girl who blathered on in an indulgent soliloquy, punctuating her monolog with phrases like, "I'm sure you would agree", and "Wouldn't you agree" so it seemed more like she was having a dialog than simply pontificating.
"When you come out in public, I'm not sure how you serve the cause. You are not an Islamic scholar. I think it is entirely your business, wouldn't you agree, but you are a public figure. I think you need to be more responsible; you do not have adequate scholarship."
Ms. Ali did not let her get away with it, either, "I am wondering if you could please tell me what your question was?", she asked, forcing the Pakistani girl to be more succinct.
She could not, so after accusing Ms. Ali of being inept, and "unscholarly", having the nerve to "recklessly bring this matter to the public", she left. But not before Ms Ali had replied,
"You were brought up a Muslim and I am a Muslim. I do not think it is responsible NOT to go public. The fact that the media is finally starting to come on to this problem... that's something. I do not think it is responsible not to go public about the values in Islam that underly the oppression of women. Living in an open society, religion is public. If you are engaged in a public debate, you can go public. So, I disagree with you."
A French student asked (very smarmily), "What is your position? You are an atheist trying to reform Islam?"
Ms. Ali replied, "I refuse to think in terms of identity. ...I have become a liberal. I feel that the freedoms of many people are under threat. I find that changing the position of women in Islam has become a priority for me. It is time we address the subjugation of women. It is time."
Overall, the audience was polite, though. Some of the questions even made sense. Well, sort of. Throughout all of the obligatory, pointless monolog-cum-pseudo-questions, Ms. Ali suffered in dignity. She was firm, resolute, and as patient as a mother is with ignorant children.
Her voice broke at one point when she reflected on her relationship with Theo Van Gogh.
When she was discussing her ideas for Submission Part One with Theo, she had wanted to use puppets, or placards. Theo said, "No, It is better if you put this idea in a film. I want to do this for you." His main problem with the project was not the danger, it was the utter lack of humor. "Maybe I'll save the humor for Parts Three and Four?", he joked.
"We thought everything was good after we finished filming. We could start Parts Two and Three. And then one morning, I got a phone call. Theo was," her voice faltered just a bit "...killed."
"So now I have to live with the fact that Theo Van Gogh is dead. Though I did not kill him, I have to live with the fact that he is dead."
"I had protection before Theo Van Gogh was killed. I have to do what these gentlemen tell me to do. I have to comply. I comply with things I am told by the authorities. The emphasis on security... it has made me more radical. I cannot be complacent. Let others do it, it will go away - I can't do that anymore."
She described herself at various times as a Muslim, an atheist, a women's rights advocate, a member of Parliament, a liberal, a refugee, and a rational being.
Rational being fit her best, I thought. She is rational. She is also very beautiful, poised, and has a firm handshake. There was a sadness to her, though she kidded and smiled. No matter her last name, she is a women of the West. She weighs information and scrutinizes it, holds it to her mind's crucible and determines if the matter is sound enough to be temporarily accepted, or, if it is too fanciful and backward, discarded with the the rest of the superstitious tripe. She is a scientist.
She described her life in the camp with other asylum seekers and what became a growing fascination:
"I am a Muslim", she began, "How on Earth was it possible for a non-western country to be so peaceful? I realized that we asylum seekers from Tunisia, from Somalia, from Iran, from Iraq, we from Muslim countries misunderstood Islam. In our countries, government terrorized you. Here, government served the people. Governments did nasty things to you, they terrorized you, they took your money. In the West, they did things like take your garbage away. It was unthinkable."
"The West appealed to my reason. I thought it was fascinating what humanity could accomplish. A good number of students who went through the refugee camp with me and then came to the West saw something else. The same things that fascinated me, infuriated them. They saw the West as an enemy of Islam."
"I thought to myself, these people (westerners) are the enemies of God? These people are in trouble with God, but they are doing things better than you? That became a curiosity for me. Who would believe these people are in trouble with God? I became more curious."
She described her job as an interpreter, which she held until becoming a member of Parliament. She found that she could not relate to the women she interpreted for. In Somalia, the situation for women was bad, without recourse. In the West, there was legal help, a woman could flee an abusive family and have the support of the government.
"I looked down on these women. In Holland, all you have to do is call the police. Here, we are all equal, I thought. In Somalia, you cannot run away from abuse."
Then she proceeded to explain that in Holland, now, the abusive man has community backing to abuse women.
"He would argue, That's my culture. That's my religion. The violence is just a symptom of it. And the police would back off. So Holland is not as equal as I thought."
On September Eleventh:
I was in a blissful state of mind. I had gotten rid of the cognitive dissonance. I was thirty one or thirty two at the time. If you really want to have a good time, you have to be in Amsterdam! At the time, I don't remember much about crime in Amsterdam. Everything was good... and then 9/11 happens. It was in the evening for us when it became clear that it was the Muslims behind it. I really followed it. I read the letters from Bin Laden and Atta on the internet, and it was all terribly familiar. This was Islam. I knew I had to find my own moral way through it.
"If you have a fight with God, he will take you to hell. I had to admit that I had been avoiding that fight. It is Islam, or it is not Islam. I am convinced that Islam can be performed by Muslims, that it can be compatible, and liberalized. The best way to begin this is to start a dialog with God."

"There are dogmas in Islam that are not compatible with open society."
...
"I wanted to make more Submissions. I wanted to challenge the concept of submission, the concept of God. I thought that it was time it shifted. Instead of blindly obeying Allah, you challenge Allah and ask, Is this really fair? Is this really moral? I was no longer afraid of the concept of hell."

Another Pakistani? girl challenged Ms. Ali with some shrill multi-culturalistic equivalence non-sense and was soundly defeated.
"Why aren't you concerned with domestic violence across the board? There is plenty of violence in America, (girl proceeded to prattle off some statistics about violence in the US, Hindu countries, etc.) which is a Christian country. Would you characterize domestic violence as a Christian problem? You don't talk to women, you talk about them."
Ms. Ali summoned strength and spared the twit her much needed evisceration.
"I sometimes talk to them. I do talk about women in other cultures. On March 8th I gave a speech in Köln. Look it up and you will see that there is an agenda against women in general. Female genital mutilation, girls dying in child birth because they are too young, Indian widows killed, I give an inventory. The rise of radical Islam is an important part of this. I feel I have the moral obligation to discuss the source. I think if I think you are enriching the debate if you question it, you are not the enemy of Islam. We can look elsewhere using reason to discover answer to these problems, and we do not have to abolish religion. But we must do it by finding a balance."
So, now I'll I have to do is meet Oriana Fallaci and I can say I have met my heroes and die happy. It was a joy seeing Ayaan Hirsi Ali in person. I only wish she were an American.

The left-leaning French weekly Charlie-Hebdo reported on this event in its March 1, 2006 issue. Charlie-Hebdo was the paper that published all of the Muhammad cartoons published by the Danish paper Jyllands-Posten - after the editor of France-Soir, owned by Arab investor´s like also Disneyland Paris partly is, was fired for publishing them.
Following the scandal that ensued, Charlie-Hebdo launched a manifesto "against Islamic totalitarianism" (also in the March 1 issue), signed by 12 renowned intellectuals: Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Chahla Chafiq, Caroline Fourest, Bernard-Henri Levy, Irshad Manji, Mehdi Mozaffari, Maryam Namazie, Taslima Nasreen, Salman Rushdie, Antoine Sfeir, Philippe Val, and Ibn Warraq.

Churchill noemde verzoeners ‘schapen in schaapskleren' en iedereen weet wat islamieten met schapen doen.
Het onheil dat de radicale islam over Europa zal brengen, is onafwendbaar bij voortzetting van een doormodderpolitiek. Moslims nemen niet duidelijk genoeg afstand van radicale islamieten. Die sluiten intussen een duivels verbond met de visieloze voorstanders van verzoenen. Dat is een historische vergissing, stelt Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Zij pleit voor een confrontatiepolitiek en zal haar keuze voor een VVD-leider daarop afstemmen.
Aan het begin van de 21ste eeuw zijn we op een historisch belangrijk moment aangeland. Leiderschap kan niet langer betekenen: ‘op de winkel letten’ of ‘de boel bij elkaar houden’. Dat zijn termen van vroeger, uit de tijd voordat de globalisering in zo’n hoog tempo op ons afkwam.
Nu wordt van leiderschap en leiders een samenhangende visie verwacht, een strategische plaatsbepaling op ideologisch, economisch en ook militair terrein.
De keuze van een leider is dus geen louter personele kwestie, maar niet minder dan een koersbepaling en kan daarom zelfs een richtingenstrijd worden.
De PvdA heeft inmiddels duidelijk een keuze bepaald – een keuze voor vroeger. Binnen het CDA broeit het ongenoegen. De VVD staat na een lange worsteling op het punt een nieuwe politiek leider te kiezen, die het voortouw moet nemen bij de aanpak van de grootste problemen van dit moment.
Een van die grote problemen is de islam, in het bijzonder de radicale islam. Te veel moslims gedogen de radicale islam. Dit stelt ons voor een ongekende uitdaging. Radicale islamieten willen een samenleving die gebaseerd is op de sharia, de leer die is terug te vinden in de koran en de traditionele geschriften.
Dat streven is onverenigbaar met de westerse liberale democratie, zoals mag blijken uit de volgende punten: – Het grootste verschil van mening tussen de beide denkrichtingen ligt in de opvatting over wat een mensenleven waard is. Westerlingen zien een leven als een heilig doel op zich, een op individuele autonomie gestoelde vrijheid waar je niet mag aankomen. Binnen de islam is alleen de gelovige, de moslim, een mens en zelfs diens leven is alleen heilig als de persoon in kwestie zich aan alle regels heeft gehouden.
Het leven van afvalligen is wel heel onheilig: zij mogen, nee moeten zelfs worden gedood. Dat staat in islamitische landen in de wetgeving en waar dat niet zo is, wordt de familie geacht deze doodstraf uit te voeren. Overspeligen dient men te stenigen, zoals ook homo’s worden gedood in landen waar men de sharia naleeft. Ook zogeheten vijanden van de islam (bijvoorbeeld zij die de godsdienst weigeren te aanvaarden) dienen te worden gedood. – In het Westen hebben we de vrijheid van de individuele mens vastgelegd in de grondwet: jouw eigen vrijheid eindigt daar waar je de vrijheid van anderen belemmert.
Maar in landen waar de sharia niet wordt nageleefd door de staat, voelen aanhangers zich verplicht om die toch na te leven. Is iemand in je familie een homo, dan moet jij als gelovige ingrijpen. Hetzelfde deed Mohammed B., toen hij vond dat Theo van Gogh de islam beledigde: hij besloot zelf op te treden tegen deze vijand van de islam. – Een scheiding tussen staat en geloof is ondenkbaar voor de radicale islam, want dat is een totalitair geloof dat navolging eist in alle facetten van het dagelijks leven. Ook vrijheid van godsdienst is dan vanzelfsprekend onmogelijk: volgens de Saoedische premier is het niet voorstelbaar dat in zijn land, de bakermat van de islam, ooit een kerk zal verrijzen. – In het Westen is de gelijkwaardigheid van man en vrouw inmiddels algemeen aanvaard, hoewel er vaak nog wel een kloof gaapt tussen ideaal en praktijk. Binnen de islam is een vrouw nooit oud genoeg om zelfstandig te zijn: eerst moet zij haar ouders als voogd accepteren, daarna haar man. – Ook seksualiteit is een duidelijk zichtbaar verschilpunt. Westerse landen staan relaties tussen homoseksuelen toe en kennen zelfs het homohuwelijk. In een islamitisch land worden homo’s vervolgd en isoleert men lesbiennes in hun huizen tot de dood hen komt halen.
Het Westen wordt bedreigd door een zeer gevaarlijke, internationale ideologie die zijn wortels heeft in de radicale islam. Deze beweging wordt onderschat, zoals Bruce Bawer terecht signaleert in zijn boek While Europe Slept. How Radical Islam is Destroying the West from Wi t h i n (zie ook Cicero, 7 april).
Deze ideologie wint binnen de islam veel aanhang door middel van missiewerk, dat bekostigd wordt met oliegeld van de machthebbers in de Arabische wereld. Want naast de olie is religie het voornaamste wapen voor de oliesjeiks om aan de macht te blijven. Anders dan Bin Laden en zijn aanhang koesteren deze heersers geen authentiek geloof in een wereldkalifaat.
Saoedische prinsen financieren in het Westen koranscholen, om zo hun problemen te exporteren.
Relativering van Mohammed en diens leer kan alleen maar leiden tot aantasting van hun macht.
Bovendien levert de opkomst van de radicale islam in Europa en Amerika de Saoedische heersers prima argumenten tegen de westerse roep om meer democratie in hun land: de democratische landen schenden immers zonder pardon de burgerrechten van militante moslims. En leidt een democratie niet alleen maar tot een gekozen theocratie, zoals in Iran?
Intussen worden overal waar moslims hun geloof serieus nemen de westerse vrijheden bedreigd. De totalitaire islam bereidt zijn volgelingen voor op een jihad, een heilige oorlog. Demografisch gezien is het nog maar een kwestie van tijd tot de volgelingen van het enige ware geloof ook hier de overhand krijgen. Het aantal moslims in West-Europa ligt volgens sussende officiële schattingen op vijftien miljoen, maar dat aantal wordt allang betwist door critici van wie sommigen zeggen dat het inmiddels om veertig miljoen gaat. Nog afgezien van de precieze cijfers, wijzen de Europese geheime diensten op het gevaar van stilzwijgende sympathie van gematigde moslims voor radicale varianten van de islam. In 2030 leeft in Europa een veelvoud van het huidige aantal moslims, met onder hen een onafzienbare hoeveelheid potentiële Mohammed B.’s. Op enig moment zal de meerderheid van de Europeanen bestaan uit moslims, wat inhoudt dat de sharia langs democratische weg zou kunnen worden ingevoerd. Als dit scenario tot uitvoering komt, heeft dat grote gevolgen voor joden, homo’s, vrouwen, afvalligen en atheïsten. Christenen zullen dan moeten leven als dhimmi’s, een stille minderheid die extra belasting betaalt en uitgesloten is van bepaalde beroepen.
Doordat het Westen de opkomst van deze totalitaire beweging goeddeels genegeerd heeft, kreeg deze de kans om overal in Europa wortel te schieten. Een van de gevolgen daarvan is een vlucht van de oorspronkelijke bewoners uit de grote steden. De burgers die in hun woonomgeving te maken hebben met de opkomende islam, hebben het idee dat ze niet gehoord worden door de politiek, omdat de grote partijen stuk voor stuk een beleid volgen dat gericht is op het binnenhalen van kiezers uit alle bevolkingsgroepen. Daardoor behouden en verstevigen extreemrechtse groeperingen hun voedingsbodem.
Zo wordt de samenleving gaandeweg gegijzeld door twee extreme krachten: dat is een horrorrecept voor een burgeroorlog en emigratie op grote schaal.
In de reactie op de radicale islam tekenen zich in de politiek, maar ook onder journalisten, publicisten, wetenschappers en burgers twee benaderingen af: de verzoeningsgerichte (zie bijvoorbeeld het pamflet van Mohamed Rabbae en anderen op Forum, 4 april) en de confrontatiezoekende .
Het verschil tussen deze twee groepen laat zich goed illustreren met de houding die twee vooraanstaande Britse staatslieden in de aanloop van de Tweede Wereldoorlog toonden tegenover het opkomende nazisme. Premier Neville Chamberlain voerde een inschikkelijke politiek tegenover Duitsland en Italië. Door steeds meer toe te geven, dacht hij Hitler en Mussolini tevreden te stellen.
Nog in 1938 kwam hij terug uit besprekingen in München met de mededeling dat hij ‘vrede voor onze tijd’ had bereikt. Hij had het mis. En Winston Churchill had gelijk door de vrijheid te verdedigen tegen de nazi’s, wat voor confrontaties daarvoor ook nodig waren.
Zoals het Westen later de confrontatie heeft gezocht met de expansiedrang van het communisme.
Natuurlijk zijn er immense verschillen in oorsprong, geografie en aanhang tussen het nazisme en communisme enerzijds en de radicale islam anderzijds. Maar deze bewegingen hebben gemeen dat ze in hun strijd tegen vrijheid absoluut meedogenloos zijn. Net als de totalitaire islam vonden Hitler en Mussolini dat echtscheiding verboden moest worden en dat vrouwen thuis hoorden om kinderen te krijgen. Ook zij schoven schaamteloos vrouwen naar voren die zeiden uit vrije wil aanhanger van de ideologie te zijn en die zich desnoods als martelaar wilden opwerpen.
En ze haatten joden en homo’s.
Zowel het nazisme en communisme als de radicale islam zeggen op te komen voor de armen en verdrukten in de wereld. En hun belangrijkste overeenkomst is hun utopische ideaal: een staat waarin geen onderdrukking meer zal bestaan, omdat de ware leer triomfeert en door iedereen wordt nageleefd.
Daarbij is bij alledrie deze vijanden van het liberalisme en rationalisme het collectief te allen tijde belangrijker dan het individu.
In de geschiedenis zijn tal van momenten aan te wijzen waarop de nazi’s en de fascisten nog gestopt hadden kunnen worden. Dat is niet gebeurd, omdat de politieke leiders geen conflicten wilden en bleven inschikken en toegeven.
Steeds waren dezelfde argumenten te horen: met de nazi’s liep het niet zo’n vaart, die bedoelden het niet zo slecht en zouden het echt niet laten aankomen op een oorlog.
Zoals later ook het communisme lange tijd is goedgepraat en zelfs geïdealiseerd door linksdenkende westerlingen.
Nu zich met de radicale islam een nieuwe uitdaging voordoet, trekken vooral de sociaal-democraten en de christen-democraten precies de verkeerde lessen uit de geschiedenis, zo toont Bawer overtuigend aan. Eerst weigeren ze het bestaan van een totalitaire islamitische ideologie te erkennen. Als die dan toch blijkt te bestaan, zeggen ze dat de aanhangers arm en achtergesteld zijn. Wanneer duidelijk wordt dat de financiers welgesteld zijn en de volgelingen kansrijk, gooien de verzoeningsgerichte westerlingen het over een andere boeg: ze demoniseren de waarschuwende boodschapper en negeren de onwelkome boodschap.
Is de boodschapper blank, dan is er duidelijk sprake van iemand die intolerant, racistisch en islamofoob moet zijn; is hij een afvallige of zelfs een islamiet, dan moet zo iemand wel getraumatiseerd zijn of weinig van de islam weten. En het medium dat zulke boodschappen brengt, moet wel sensatiebelust zijn en streven naar hoge kijk- of verkoopcijfers.
Einde discussie.
Intussen zoeken de verzoeners uitvluchten om maar niet te hoeven inzien dat het onheil onafwendbaar is: laten we niet overdrijven, het gaat hier om een minderheid.
Ze doen een appèl op de emoties van moslims door hen te behagen, te behagen en nog eens te behagen: dat is de kern van de verzoeningspolitiek.
Hun idee van een vreedzame samenleving berust op een alliantie met de islam, die prompt een eigen zuil mag vormen in de maatschappij, met eigen scholen, media en buurten. De radicale moslims weten precies wat deze weinig kritische verzoeners willen horen en knuffelen hen dood met vredelievendheid.
Het meest opvallende aan de doormodderpolitiek van de verzoeners is hun gebrek aan een samenhangende visie op de lange termijn. Ze zijn reactief en passief, weten niet wat ze moeten verdedigen en denken dat vrijheid vanzelfsprekend is. Daardoor negeren ze de pijn van de slachtoffers die te maken krijgen met de onverdraagzame kant van de islam. Ben je als jood aangevallen door een groepje moslimjongeren omdat je een keppeltje op hebt, draag dat dan de volgende keer niet. Ben je als vrouw bespuugd op de markt omdat je een mouwloos hemdje draagt, ga dan naar een andere markt of trek iets aan met lange mouwen. Ben je homo, probeer dan niet op te vallen.
Op die manier zijn de verzoeners in feite een duivels verbond aangegaan met de radicale islam, die zich maar al te graag als slachtoffer laat afschilderen. Pas als de crisis niet langer te ontkennen is, grijpen ook de verzoenende politici naar de uiterste middelen en is ineens alles onderhandelbaar, zelfs wetswijzigingen waarin de principiële vrijheid van meningsuiting beknot wordt en individuele vrijheden met voeten worden getreden (‘Beter tien onschuldigen in de cel dan één terrorist op vrije voeten’, aldus CDA-voorman Maxime Verhagen).
Als de problemen na verloop van tijd niet vanzelf verdwijnen, praten zulke politici echter niet over een totalitaire ideologie die geïnspireerd wordt door de profeet Mohammed, maar over raddraaiers en radicalisme in het algemeen.
Waardoor het probleem van de radicale islam wordt teruggeschroefd naar dezelfde proporties als dat van dierenactivisten en Lonsdale-jongeren.
Sterker nog: als ze een imam in een moskee horen zeggen dat de islam vrede is, nemen ze dat voetstoots aan, zonder achterdocht.
Zulke politieke verzoeners zijn ‘schapen in schaapskleren’, zoals Churchill zei over Chamberlain.
En iedereen weet wat islamieten met schapen doen.
Jihad betekent letterlijk: zich inzetten tot het uiterste. Wanneer de radicale islamitische beweging bereid is zich tot het uiterste in te spannen om de liberale samenleving te vernietigen, moet je als liberaal klaar staan om je tot het uiterste in te spannen om die samenleving te verdedigen.
Voorstanders van de confrontatiepolitiek zijn moedig en onderschatten de gevaren van de radicale islam niet. Ze zien dat individuele vrijheden en ook het voortbestaan van de vrede worden bedreigd. Anders dan de verzoeners hebben ze wel een langetermijnvisie, geen dogma, maar een model om de langetermijnaanpak te ondersteunen. Hun niet onderhandelbare motto is dat vrijheden actief verdedigd moeten worden, ook al gaat dat gepaard met risico’s.
Hoewel ze bereid zijn alle middelen in te zetten om het totalitarisme te verslaan, houden ze voortdurend de grenzen van een open samenleving voor ogen.
De vrijheid van meningsuiting is daarbij onontbeerlijk.
Want confrontatiepolitici zien moslims als individuen, die zoals alle andere individuen in staat zijn te kiezen voor zowel het goede als het kwade pad.
Daarom zien ze moslims als gelijkwaardige burgers en doen ze een beroep op hun rede. De ratio is de strategie van de aanhangers van de confrontatiepolitiek. Het stellen van grenzen is belangrijker dan het faciliteren van een islamitische zuil in de eigen samenleving.
Het is duidelijk waarvoor de confrontatiepolitiek wil vechten: voor westerse vrijheden en instituties.
En ook waartegen die vecht: tegen een verwerpelijke ideologie.
Bij die opstelling horen de volgende kernpunten: – Het nauwgezet bijhouden van de demografische ontwikkelingen. – Het precies registreren van geweldsincidenten tegen specifieke groepen (vrouwen, joden, homoseksuelen).
Dus niet alleen het incident, maar ook de identiteit van de dader. – De VS en Israël zijn niet onze vijanden, maar belangrijke bondgenoten in de strijd tegen de radicale islam. – Het vinden van energiebronnen die een alternatief bieden voor olie is zeer urgent. – Er dient een Europees immigratiebeleid te komen, gebaseerd op toelating met een individueel contract, dat migranten verplicht zich aan de grondwet te houden.
Schending van dit contract houdt uitzetting in. – Het is nodig in de ideologische arena de strijd aan te gaan met de generatie die al besmet is met de radicale islam. Moslims moeten zich hiervan nadrukkelijker distantiëren. – Bied gedegen onderwijs, sluit islamitische scholen en voorkom dat er nieuwe gesticht worden.
Wat nog belangrijker is: de burgers moeten zien dat ze zelf ook verantwoordelijkheden hebben.
Toen Theo van Gogh werd vermoord, keken daar zo’n vijftig mensen bij toe. Maar je kunt niet als passieve toeschouwer blijven wachten tot de overheid je komt redden. De mensen zullen zelf ook wat moeten doen, zich niet in slaap moeten laten sussen door mooie praatjes van verzoeners die zeggen dat alles weer goed komt.
Ze moeten zelf hun gezonde, kritische achterdocht inschakelen om te zien wat er werkelijk gebeurt.
Politiek schept voorwaarden, handhaaft de wet en beschermt dissidente geluiden. Maar het is aan intellectuelen en opiniemakers om in de ideologische arena de islam te ontleden, zonder dat een van de partijen door intimidatie gedwongen wordt te zwijgen.
Columnisten die retorisch roepen dat er ‘natuurlijk vrijheid van meningsuiting is’, zien niet dat er tussen die theorie en de praktijk een grote kloof gaapt zolang aanhangers van de confrontatiepolitiek met de dood worden bedreigd.
Ik ben zo’n aanhanger van de confrontatiepolitiek. Ik vind dat mijn partij dat ook moet zijn. Ik zal dus volgende maand binnen mijn partij stemmen op de kandidaat die daarover het duidelijkst kleur heeft bekend.
Wie zich ook als kandidaat-premier aandient: het zal de komende tijd gaan om een principiële keuze voor Chamberlain of Churchill, voor verzoeningszucht of confrontatie.
Bij de parlementsverkiezingen van 2007 zullen de kiezers moeten beseffen dat ze met hun stem een verstrekkende keuze doen, waarmee ze hun toekomst mede vorm geven. Die zware verantwoordelijkheid hebben burgers in een liberale samenleving.

Churchill noemde verzoeners ‘schapen in schaapskleren' en iedereen weet wat islamieten met schapen doen.
Het onheil dat de radicale islam over Europa zal brengen, is onafwendbaar bij voortzetting van een doormodderpolitiek. Moslims nemen niet duidelijk genoeg afstand van radicale islamieten. Die sluiten intussen een duivels verbond met de visieloze voorstanders van verzoenen. Dat is een historische vergissing, stelt Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Zij pleit voor een confrontatiepolitiek en zal haar keuze voor een VVD-leider daarop afstemmen.
Aan het begin van de 21ste eeuw zijn we op een historisch belangrijk moment aangeland. Leiderschap kan niet langer betekenen: ‘op de winkel letten’ of ‘de boel bij elkaar houden’. Dat zijn termen van vroeger, uit de tijd voordat de globalisering in zo’n hoog tempo op ons afkwam.
Nu wordt van leiderschap en leiders een samenhangende visie verwacht, een strategische plaatsbepaling op ideologisch, economisch en ook militair terrein.
De keuze van een leider is dus geen louter personele kwestie, maar niet minder dan een koersbepaling en kan daarom zelfs een richtingenstrijd worden.
De PvdA heeft inmiddels duidelijk een keuze bepaald – een keuze voor vroeger. Binnen het CDA broeit het ongenoegen. De VVD staat na een lange worsteling op het punt een nieuwe politiek leider te kiezen, die het voortouw moet nemen bij de aanpak van de grootste problemen van dit moment.
Een van die grote problemen is de islam, in het bijzonder de radicale islam. Te veel moslims gedogen de radicale islam. Dit stelt ons voor een ongekende uitdaging. Radicale islamieten willen een samenleving die gebaseerd is op de sharia, de leer die is terug te vinden in de koran en de traditionele geschriften.
Dat streven is onverenigbaar met de westerse liberale democratie, zoals mag blijken uit de volgende punten: – Het grootste verschil van mening tussen de beide denkrichtingen ligt in de opvatting over wat een mensenleven waard is. Westerlingen zien een leven als een heilig doel op zich, een op individuele autonomie gestoelde vrijheid waar je niet mag aankomen. Binnen de islam is alleen de gelovige, de moslim, een mens en zelfs diens leven is alleen heilig als de persoon in kwestie zich aan alle regels heeft gehouden.
Het leven van afvalligen is wel heel onheilig: zij mogen, nee moeten zelfs worden gedood. Dat staat in islamitische landen in de wetgeving en waar dat niet zo is, wordt de familie geacht deze doodstraf uit te voeren. Overspeligen dient men te stenigen, zoals ook homo’s worden gedood in landen waar men de sharia naleeft. Ook zogeheten vijanden van de islam (bijvoorbeeld zij die de godsdienst weigeren te aanvaarden) dienen te worden gedood. – In het Westen hebben we de vrijheid van de individuele mens vastgelegd in de grondwet: jouw eigen vrijheid eindigt daar waar je de vrijheid van anderen belemmert.
Maar in landen waar de sharia niet wordt nageleefd door de staat, voelen aanhangers zich verplicht om die toch na te leven. Is iemand in je familie een homo, dan moet jij als gelovige ingrijpen. Hetzelfde deed Mohammed B., toen hij vond dat Theo van Gogh de islam beledigde: hij besloot zelf op te treden tegen deze vijand van de islam. – Een scheiding tussen staat en geloof is ondenkbaar voor de radicale islam, want dat is een totalitair geloof dat navolging eist in alle facetten van het dagelijks leven. Ook vrijheid van godsdienst is dan vanzelfsprekend onmogelijk: volgens de Saoedische premier is het niet voorstelbaar dat in zijn land, de bakermat van de islam, ooit een kerk zal verrijzen. – In het Westen is de gelijkwaardigheid van man en vrouw inmiddels algemeen aanvaard, hoewel er vaak nog wel een kloof gaapt tussen ideaal en praktijk. Nu zich met de radicale islam een nieuwe uitdaging voordoet, trekken vooral de sociaal-democraten en de christen-democraten precies de verkeerde lessen uit de geschiedenis, zo toont Bawer overtuigend aan. Eerst weigeren ze het bestaan van een totalitaire islamitische ideologie te erkennen. Als die dan toch blijkt te bestaan, zeggen ze dat de aanhangers arm en achtergesteld zijn. Wanneer duidelijk wordt dat de financiers welgesteld zijn en de volgelingen kansrijk, gooien de verzoeningsgerichte westerlingen het over een andere boeg: ze demoniseren de waarschuwende boodschapper en negeren de onwelkome boodschap.
Is de boodschapper blank, dan is er duidelijk sprake van iemand die intolerant, racistisch en islamofoob moet zijn; is hij een afvallige of zelfs een islamiet, dan moet zo iemand wel getraumatiseerd zijn of weinig van de islam weten. En het medium dat zulke boodschappen brengt, moet wel sensatiebelust zijn en streven naar hoge kijk- of verkoopcijfers.
Einde discussie.
Intussen zoeken de verzoeners uitvluchten om maar niet te hoeven inzien dat het onheil onafwendbaar is: laten we niet overdrijven, het gaat hier om een minderheid.
Ze doen een appèl op de emoties van moslims door hen te behagen, te behagen en nog eens te behagen: dat is de kern van de verzoeningspolitiek.
Hun idee van een vreedzame samenleving berust op een alliantie met de islam, die prompt een eigen zuil mag vormen in de maatschappij, met eigen scholen, media en buurten. De radicale moslims weten precies wat deze weinig kritische verzoeners willen horen en knuffelen hen dood met vredelievendheid.
Het meest opvallende aan de doormodderpolitiek van de verzoeners is hun gebrek aan een samenhangende visie op de lange termijn. Ze zijn reactief en passief, weten niet wat ze moeten verdedigen en denken dat vrijheid vanzelfsprekend is. Daardoor negeren ze de pijn van de slachtoffers die te maken krijgen met de onverdraagzame kant van de islam. Ben je als jood aangevallen door een groepje moslimjongeren omdat je een keppeltje op hebt, draag dat dan de volgende keer niet. Ben je als vrouw bespuugd op de markt omdat je een mouwloos hemdje draagt, ga dan naar een andere markt of trek iets aan met lange mouwen. Ben je homo, probeer dan niet op te vallen.
Op die manier zijn de verzoeners in feite een duivels verbond aangegaan met de radicale islam, die zich maar al te graag als slachtoffer laat afschilderen. Pas als de crisis niet langer te ontkennen is, grijpen ook de verzoenende politici naar de uiterste middelen en is ineens alles onderhandelbaar, zelfs wetswijzigingen waarin de principiële vrijheid van meningsuiting beknot wordt en individuele vrijheden met voeten worden getreden (‘Beter tien onschuldigen in de cel dan één terrorist op vrije voeten’, aldus CDA-voorman Maxime Verhagen).
Als de problemen na verloop van tijd niet vanzelf verdwijnen, praten zulke politici echter niet over een totalitaire ideologie die geïnspireerd wordt door de profeet Mohammed, maar over raddraaiers en radicalisme in het algemeen.
Waardoor het probleem van de radicale islam wordt teruggeschroefd naar dezelfde proporties als dat van dierenactivisten en Lonsdale-jongeren.
Sterker nog: als ze een imam in een moskee horen zeggen dat de islam vrede is, nemen ze dat voetstoots aan, zonder achterdocht.
Zulke politieke verzoeners zijn ‘schapen in schaapskleren’, zoals Churchill zei over Chamberlain.
En iedereen weet wat islamieten met schapen doen.
Jihad betekent letterlijk: zich inzetten tot het uiterste. Wanneer de radicale islamitische beweging bereid is zich tot het uiterste in te spannen om de liberale samenleving te vernietigen, moet je als liberaal klaar staan om je tot het uiterste in te spannen om die samenleving te verdedigen.
Voorstanders van de confrontatiepolitiek zijn moedig en onderschatten de gevaren van de radicale islam niet. Ze zien dat individuele vrijheden en ook het voortbestaan van de vrede worden bedreigd. Anders dan de verzoeners hebben ze wel een langetermijnvisie, geen dogma, maar een model om de langetermijnaanpak te ondersteunen. Hun niet onderhandelbare motto is dat vrijheden actief verdedigd moeten worden, ook al gaat dat gepaard met risico’s.
Hoewel ze bereid zijn alle middelen in te zetten om het totalitarisme te verslaan, houden ze voortdurend de grenzen van een open samenleving voor ogen.
De vrijheid van meningsuiting is daarbij onontbeerlijk.
Want confrontatiepolitici zien moslims als individuen, die zoals alle andere individuen in staat zijn te kiezen voor zowel het goede als het kwade pad.
Daarom zien ze moslims als gelijkwaardige burgers en doen ze een beroep op hun rede. De ratio is de strategie van de aanhangers van de confrontatiepolitiek. Het stellen van grenzen is belangrijker dan het faciliteren van een islamitische zuil in de eigen samenleving.
Het is duidelijk waarvoor de confrontatiepolitiek wil vechten: voor westerse vrijheden en instituties.
En ook waartegen die vecht: tegen een verwerpelijke ideologie.
Bij die opstelling horen de volgende kernpunten: – Het nauwgezet bijhouden van de demografische ontwikkelingen. – Het precies registreren van geweldsincidenten tegen specifieke groepen (vrouwen, joden, homoseksuelen).
Dus niet alleen het incident, maar ook de identiteit van de dader. – De VS en Israël zijn niet onze vijanden, maar belangrijke bondgenoten in de strijd tegen de radicale islam. – Het vinden van energiebronnen die een alternatief bieden voor olie is zeer urgent. – Er dient een Europees immigratiebeleid te komen, gebaseerd op toelating met een individueel contract, dat migranten verplicht zich aan de grondwet te houden.
Schending van dit contract houdt uitzetting in. – Het is nodig in de ideologische arena de strijd aan te gaan met de generatie die al besmet is met de radicale islam. Moslims moeten zich hiervan nadrukkelijker distantiëren. – Bied gedegen onderwijs, sluit islamitische scholen en voorkom dat er nieuwe gesticht worden.
Wat nog belangrijker is: de burgers moeten zien dat ze zelf ook verantwoordelijkheden hebben.
Toen Theo van Gogh werd vermoord, keken daar zo’n vijftig mensen bij toe. Maar je kunt niet als passieve toeschouwer blijven wachten tot de overheid je komt redden. De mensen zullen zelf ook wat moeten doen, zich niet in slaap moeten laten sussen door mooie praatjes van verzoeners die zeggen dat alles weer goed komt.
Ze moeten zelf hun gezonde, kritische achterdocht inschakelen om te zien wat er werkelijk gebeurt.
Politiek schept voorwaarden, handhaaft de wet en beschermt dissidente geluiden. Maar het is aan intellectuelen en opiniemakers om in de ideologische arena de islam te ontleden, zonder dat een van de partijen door intimidatie gedwongen wordt te zwijgen.
Columnisten die retorisch roepen dat er ‘natuurlijk vrijheid van meningsuiting is’, zien niet dat er tussen die theorie en de praktijk een grote kloof gaapt zolang aanhangers van de confrontatiepolitiek met de dood worden bedreigd.
Ik ben zo’n aanhanger van de confrontatiepolitiek. Ik vind dat mijn partij dat ook moet zijn. Ik zal dus volgende maand binnen mijn partij stemmen op de kandidaat die daarover het duidelijkst kleur heeft bekend.
Wie zich ook als kandidaat-premier aandient: het zal de komende tijd gaan om een principiële keuze voor Chamberlain of Churchill, voor verzoeningszucht of confrontatie.
Bij de parlementsverkiezingen van 2007 zullen de kiezers moeten beseffen dat ze met hun stem een verstrekkende keuze doen, waarmee ze hun toekomst mede vorm geven. Die zware verantwoordelijkheid hebben burgers in een liberale samenleving.
